Benrus "MIL-W-46374" field-watch [1994]

  • Movement: hand-wound ETA 2801.
  • Case: ref# MIL-W-46374, stainless-steel, ~34mm Ø.
  • this commemorative civilian re-issue features a modern high-beat movement and a screw-down caseback made of stainless-steel.
  • the original benrus MIL-W-46374 from the mid '60s were quite different from this re-issue, as high-accuracy was not important and they were not intended to be serviceable and their cases were made of plastic -- basically, disposeable watches.
  • eventually in the early '70s the MIL-W-46374 specification was updated to include variants with higher timekeeping accuracy, were maintainable, and featured durable cases made of stainless-steel.
